Blacklist Vintage Fashion Show

By Theresa Malloy

As fashion evolves, new interpretations of retro trends are still sent down the runway. Blacklist Vintage owner Vanessa Messersmith knows this secret, and she masterfully pulls these runway looks right from her inventory. Her “Vintage Did It First” runway show on Saturday, September 22, showcased fashionable and affordable vintage looks.

People came early to do some shopping and enjoy drinks and packed the small store. A line of cheetah-print duct tape lined the floor where models strutted their stuff. At the end of the runway, models stepped onto a platform with the designer looks projected behind them.

Messersmith’s fall looks featured reds and plaids.

Plaid looks inspired by (clockwise from top left): Carven 1980s suede shorts, Mui Mui wool cape suit, Prada '70s Evan Picone Suit, DSquared2 '60s sweater/skirt set.

Red looks inspired by (clockwise starting with top left): Ralph Lauren '70s velvet pant suit, Alberta Ferretti '20s sheer lace dress, Barbara T. Frank cocktail dress, Lanvin '50s velvet dress.
