Stephanie’s Picks for Fall

With Labor Day weekend behind us, summer is now officially over. Sigh. Luckily, we still have the autumn season, albeit fleeting, with its golden leaves and crisp air (ideal weather for layering). Last week, St. Paul boutique owner Stephanie Morrissey highlighted some of her favorite trends for fall with a mini runway show right in her store. There were six looks total, all put together from pieces that are either currently available at her boutique, Stephanie’s, or will be in time for the holidays. Morrissey shows us that this fall is all about texture—leather, lace, fur, knit—sometimes all in the same outfit. “All of these trends kind of meld together, and it’s good to see how you can mix them without going overboard,” Morrissey says.

The outfits that mixed fabrics, proportions, and price points make the wearer appear on trend, without trying too hard. The hands down favorite was the ‘rocker’ look. A mix of hard and soft, the ensemble featured red, faux leather pants, toned down by a floaty tunic on top. A fringe House of Harlow bag completed the effortlessly cool appeal of this look.

An animal print dress with a prim peplum combine two trends, as does the faux leather jacket paired with a sheer, winter white dress.
