Trends, they are a-changing, and this doesn’t exclude skirts! Whether it’s denim, body-con, or a maxi, there’s always an innovation in the world of summer skirts.
While getting dolled up for a night out, Anna, my friend who lives in New York, whipped out the cutest skirt: black, sheer, and a cross between the mini and the maxi skirt.
I won’t say I was unfamiliar with the high-low look, but I had yet to see someone wear the trend for a night out on the town. Paired with a neon top, thick wedges, and chunky bangles, she created the perfect cute but casual ensemble!
In lieu of temperatures creeping toward the triple digits, I couldn’t help but play copycat and go on a shopping excursion of my own.
Thankfully, I found refuge from the heat in the one place a fashionable girl can always count on: the mall!
Greeted by the relief of air conditioning, I found freedom to explore endless clothing racks at countless stores. Fortunately for my credit card, I found an ideal high-low skirt (well, in my case, a dress) at a relatively new store, Lola, in the Mall of America.
I’m sure everyone’s closets incorporate more skirts and dresses than your average boutique, but the high-low skirt (or dress) is a staple. It’ll prove versatile enough to wear just about anywhere!
“Really, anywhere?” you ask. Yes, pretty much any place you can think of.
To the office: Wear your skirt to the office with wedges, a thick belt and a cute blouse-you’ll look pretty, yet professional.
Out n’ about: Meet up with your girlfriends afterward for shopping or happy hour by pairing it with flats, a tank top and a skinny belt. This way, you’ll be able to stay cool and comfortable while showing off your impressive style.
For the night owl: You can even wear it for a night out by throwing on some neon pumps, a matching clutch and your favorite tank or blouse. This look is fun, fashionable and far from difficult to pull together.
The high low skirt can be worn just about anywhere—it’s casual, it’s cute, and best of all, it’s comfy.
