This week it was absurdly hot in the Twin Cities. And I don’t mean beach-day hot (although that sounds pretty fun). I mean backstroke-in-a-pool-of-boiling-coffee hot.
Well, our newest Model Citizen Annabelle Joyce knows how to keep things cool. As a receptionist at Minneapolis-based law firm Mansfield, Tanick & Cohen, she needs to look her best even when the thermostat creeps past 100.
No sweat.
When I met Annabelle, she was rocking a sleeveless, pale tan dress by Classiques Entier, which she accented with a thin belt. The light fabric allowed her a little extra room to breathe, plus the color palette makes the dress extremely versatile.
“My style is simple,” she says. “I wear all simple colors. I’m not great with high fashion stuff, so I choose neutral tones. They work well from season to season.”
To top the look off, she chose some leather leopard-print flats by Jack Rogers and a Louis Vuitton bag.
Annabelle picked up her outfit at Nordstrom, but she also likes to shop at Target for after-work attire, and Minneapolis’ own Local Motion (2813 Hennepin Ave S., Mpls.), which sells unique fashions from Minnesota designers.
If you want to channel Annabelle’s heat-defying outfit, strap a belt on your favorite mid-length dress (like this one from Classiques Entier) and slip on some open-toed shoes.
Or chill out by sticking your face in the icebox. Whatever floats your boat.
