Beauty Beat: New European Wax Center

EWC2

By Allison Pavlick

Beauty is skin-deep, and unfortunately, so are hair follicles. In lieu of painful plucking and prickly shaving, the European Wax Center gets to the root of the issue by using all-natural beeswax and fuss-free waxing methods. The Wax Center’s newest and fifth metro location, adjacent to Eden Prairie Center, opened Monday. I played the guinea pig during last week’s preview event, which offered complimentary waxing services to prospective customers. Here’s the scoop:

Waxing can be intimidating. The Wax Center’s antidote: create a bright, clean space paired with friendly and hasty–albeit diligent–service. The intimate, predominantly white entry (save a wall of exposed brick) extends to remote waxing spaces where specialist complete waxing services on brows, arms, legs, stomach, and a slew of other options within 15 minutes. (Note: many services require that hair be at least the length of a grain of rice.)

Unlike (too) many local spas and salons, the Wax Center specialists create customized experiences for each client, taking sensitivity, medications, and personal preferences into account. Before applying the wax to my eyebrows, my specialist made certain my objectives aligned with her vision: to clean up strays while retaining the natural shape and arch of my brows. I concurred. Within a half hour, I left smooth, groomed, and with minimal redness. I also laid a lifelong uncertainty to rest: waxing more often does yield finer, sparser hair.

Services are available for both men and women, with prices ranging from $9-$68. 582 Prairie Center Dr., Eden Prairie, 952-392-4475, waxcenter.com
