Business in the front, party in the back. No, we’re not talking about mullets here (would we ever?)–we’re talking about the open back, a fun alternative to the V-neck and a fashionable must-have for spring and summer. Remember when Hilary Swank wore that killer dress to the Academy Awards in 2005? The open back obsession started right then and there, and the trendy style continues to make appearances in collections and stores everywhere.
We love this tribal print dress, a lightweight cotton with a fitted top and full skirt. The peekaboo back shows just a hint of skin; it’s perfect for a hot summer night spent outdoors. The neon pink peplum dress is almost too chic for words. Wear it with a bold black pump for a fancy dinner date, and keep the compliments coming.
This green skater dress has a defined waist and twirly skirt, plus a pretty striped pattern. Wear it with a pair of neon orange sandals like the model did (don’t be afraid to mix bright colors!), or a cute pair of espadrille wedges. The sequin embellishment on the back of the Express tee livens up an otherwise simple T-shirt and would look sassy worn with dark denim or hey, a snakeskin skirt, because animal prints are in, too.
