Minnesota claims its fair share of style icons (for further proof, pick up a copy of our 40th anniversary issue). While many trendsetters are still shaking things up in the Twin Cities, others have taken their cunning fashion sense beyond the state line.
One of our most stylish exports is The Illusionist star Jessica Biel. A native of Ely, Minn., this striking tomboy has an all-American appeal. Her wardrobe consists of a smattering of v-necks, dark-wash jeans, and leather boots. And while she isn’t one to flash designer duds on a daily basis—save a six-carat engagement ring from fiancé Justin Timberlake—Biel isn’t afraid of taking a fashion risk or two. At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, she made a gratifying style deviation when she selected a frothy lace Elie Saab gown. And this month, the husky-voiced star is at it again.
In her latest W magazine cover shoot, the chiseled beauty looks akin to a Greek goddess donning stark white, a tweed jacket by Chanel, and a trend-forward bra top by Nina Ricci. In a series of languid poses, the actress brings a laid-back edge to otherwise high-fashion pieces, proving that guy’s girls can look impeccably glamorous—especially when they’re Minnesotans.
