Trend to Try: Go Red

By Linden Wilson

February might be over, but we’re still seeing red. The LBD has found its competition in the little red dress, a chic staple on the 2012 Resort runways. Carolina Herrera and Gucci showcased simple, ladylike red frocks in their collections, and we love the minimal accessorizing and sleek updos paired with them.

But don’t fret—you won’t have to shell out the big bucks to wear a ravishing red dress. This sleeveless number from local boutique Primp (left) is pretty and ideal for layering in winter and transitioning into spring. Revolve Clothing (middle) has a strapless option with a classic cinched waist and flared skirt. Another local shopping hotspot, Cynthia Rae (right) offers a sweet, springtime alternative to the little red dress with a trendy red, floral print top and red miniskirt.

Wearing a red dress is the perfect way to add a bold pop of color while we endure the remaining bleak days of winter. For now, pair one with black tights, ankle boots, and a cropped blazer; dream of wearing one sans outerwear and with cute, strappy sandals come spring.
