ASID Showcase Home: Two More Weeks!

Shawn Gilliam
We at Mpls.St.Paul Magazine have known for months that this year's ASID Showcase Home would be pretty cool. My colleagues and I worked with a team of 40-plus interior designers, architects, and contractors on the renovation of the 1951 home in Edina's Sunnyslope neighborhood—and although the project maintains the home's mid-century modern roots, it also features the latest in environmentally friendly materials and elegant furnishings that can easily translate to homes of many styles.

What has been pleasantly surprising is how every news outlet in town has jumped on the story—jokingly referring to the project as a renovation of a Brady Bunch-style house. So, as we enter the last two weeks of tours, I figured I'd share the clips for a bit of a preview. Then, make plans to see the house for yourself this weekend. Click here for ticket information.

In this piece, Elizabeth Ries with KSTP 5's Twin Cities Live joins me for a fun tour of the family room, kitchen, and living/dining room. Click here, then choose "Brady Bunch House."

This story with KMSP FOX 9's M.A. Rosko features homeowners Erin and Steve Buss and highlights bedrooms, baths, and family spaces.

KARE 11's Pat Evans and I check out spaces inside and out in this tour. You can see how the interior designers and builders worked so well with Bryan Anderson and his team at SALA Architects to improve upon the home's mid-century modern appeal. I especially like the beautifully tailored wall of paneling and closets in the master suite. It hearkens to what was there before but with more streamlined woodwork, smart storage-features, and built-in lighting. See the clip here.

WCCO did a nice job showing glimpses of all key spaces, including walls of windows that are true to the home's architecture but that feature several new custom Marvin Windows. The clip also shows a little of the opening-night party with Cambria spokesperson Cheryl Tiegs and a model wearing a dress made of Cambria quartz countertop material. Check it out here.
