Nope, this isn't a Foodie blog. I just thought I'd vent about my latest pet peeve: Salt stains on my black suede boots. I know I live in Minnesota, where salt is a mainstay on the roads from about November to April, but every time I step outside wearing my comfy, slouchy black boots, they turn an ugly shade of white.
I made a trip to Nordstrom and asked the sales associate what she suggested. Black suede cleaner and a wire brush. Excited to renew my favorite boots, I ran home and scrubbed with the cleaner, but those pesky white stains went unchanged.
Next step? Google. Truly, you can find the answer to anything online. A simple search led me to a message board where dozens of like-minded suede-boot-wearers were tackling the same problem. The surprising remedy? A common kitchen ingredient: White Vinegar.
I doused my boots with a paper towel and vinegar, and though it smelled awful, the vinegar worked like magic. No more stains. And since suede boots are a staple in so many of our wardrobes this winter, I thought I'd impart the knowledge on all of our Style Parlor readers.
Anyone else have a quick fashion fix they'd like to share?

Hi, I read your comments about trying to remove stains on suede AFTER they become damaged. And while I can't really offer that at this time, I can tell you how to prevent the damage to suede in the first place.
Kleerwite is starting to market a product called SmartPEL "The Smart Stain and Water Repellent". You can view a short 1.5 minute video on youtube that shows some amazing things that we do to suede boots, skirts, and jackets.
