More on Tuxes

By Sarah Schweich

I was also doing a little research today about formalwear chains because I will need a national chain due to all of the cities in which our groomsmen, ushers, and fathers live: Chicago, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, San Diego, Madison, and Minneapolis. Or do I? Can they just get measured and call it in or is it important to measure based on the brand/manufacturer of the tuxedo? I think I need to make some calls.

Any advice? Can you get measured and rent online? How far in advance? Anyone go shopping with some of their guys?

Hey Sarah! I actually work for a tuxedo retailer and would love to offer advice. I recommend that you select a retailer that has great service and offers on-site tailoring. This will help prevent any potential issues with fit.
No, you do not have to go through a national retailer. It is very common that wedding parties are spread out across the nation. Your retailer should provide easy submission for out-of-town measurements including phone or mail submission and online service. Often there is a measurement guide available online, but it is imperative that attendants are professionally measured.
I hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your planning!
