I don’t know about you, but I was sad when World Market closed its stores in the metro. You know who was more sad? Our residential Easter Bunny, because no longer could she easily cram baskets with Milka bars, Dark Toblerone, and tooth-cementing ginger chews. If you think the store is just about teak tables, flowy scarves, and carved wooden giraffes, maybe you never made it to the back of the store where there was a bazaar of international and far-flung eats.
But good news bunnies, World Market is back with two stores, one in Roseville and the other in Bloomington. Wonder why I’m so excited? Here’s what I found yesterday:
San Pellegrino Chinotto. A super bitter citrus drink that freaks you out, then keeps you coming back for more. Like Campari.
Maggi Sauce. A super concentrated salty bouillon-like brown sauce that everyone thinks is Asian, but it’s Swiss. My secret michelada ingredient.
Jammie Dodgers. The best name ever for jam-filled cookies and the most fun thing to say with a fake British accent.
Euro Kit Kats. The number one thing the Euros have over us is the range and size of Kit Kats available to them.
Lowensenf. Here’s how we say it in my house: luuuuuven-zenf. The best spicy hot mustard for your Oktober wurst.
SPAM flavored macadamia nuts. I’m putting these on my desk.
Nordic Sundries. These locations of World Market have a bigger selection of Nordic treats (fish balls! knackerbrod!) than any other in the country.
