F3: LEGO Me

Thumbnail image for lego fork.jpgLast year around this time I was making a Lego cake for Jake’s Bday. Lego still has a grip on that kid, so I was perusing the site to see what was new. Apparently, someone told them to get their girl on, and they’ve launched a very pink and girly line of blocks, complete with little girly minifig friends. I give you Stephanie. She’s a blonde who loves cupcakes “you know, the healthy ones, right? ;) ” She loves talking to people, planning parties, and playing soccer. She wants to be “a journalist, an editor, or a party planner” and one of her signature sets is an outdoor bakery. Should someone be paying me some royalties? Funny enough, I was (am) a Lego girl, and all those things their little Stephanie aspires to be, I achieved not by playing with pink blocks and cute flower attachments, but by building giant war ships in which the Smurfs could annihilate Luke Skywalker and Jem (who was truly outrageous). Anyway, it’s Fresh Forkin’ Friday and I have to go make some “cheeseburger” cupcakes for Jake’s birthday party (I’m not saying he’s getting the new Death Star set, but I’m not NOT saying it).

OPENS

Well, after enough waiting, Eat Street Social opened yesterday (and yes, there were at least three people waiting outside the door for it to open). The space is handsome, what with all the restored tin and dark colors, and the bar is central to the fun: hit the list of creative cocktails, but don’t forget to sample the non-boozy maple egg cream.

COMING SOON

Whole Foods has committed to the old Jaguar dealership space on Hennepin in the North Loop and plans to open sometime in 2013.

MAYBE

It looks like the city wants to renovate the Little Jack’s space in Nordeast, any takers?

Didja see the big list of fun stuff for VDay? Or are you more of a hater on this Hallmark holiday? I gotcha:

Head over to the James J. Hill library for Shot Through the Heart, a night of drinky dancing with spicy nosh and Fatal Attraction playing on the big screen. No need to suffer fools.

Or check out moto-i’s Cupid is Stupid party where the sake is $3 all day and the mic is open at 10pm for your tirade or rant against the winged devil.
