The Well-Read Foodist

Stephanie March
cookbooks.jpgMy hammock was swinging this weekend as I ate up the rest of Giulia Melucci's I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti, basically a chick lit book with recipes, reminiscent of Hesser's Cooking for Mr. Latte. I have to say I liked Hesser's recipes better, but Melucci is a looser, kickier writer.

Now that I'm in need of another title, Hennepin County Library has graciously come to my aid with its Food for Thought list of 36 non-fiction food books about eating, cooking, and restaurants.

Comments

Glad to see some of my favorite writers/chefs made the list. I think Tender to the Bone is next for me after I get through American Artisanal. Thanks for the awesome list!

I recently enjoyed "Cooking and Screaming" by Adrienne Kane - a compelling story about a young woman who suffered from a stroke-like medical condition and used cooking as a way to help her recover. I got it from Hennepin County Library, so it's definitely available there.

Nice additions! I just got Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting by quasi-local (he's a Sconnie) Michael Perry. It sounds HI-larious ... check out his site sneezingcow.com
