We are expecting a major announcement today, first previewed in this blog a couple weeks ago, from Chambers Kitchen and the Chambers Hotel. The scuttlebutt has been that Jean-Georges Vongerichten's organization is being replaced by D'Amico & Partners (which closed its iconic D'Amico Cucina early Sunday amidst a very festive ambiance that did not resemble a wake, but a celebration).
Andrew Zimmern will have the accurate details later this AM at Chow & Again.
The salient questions, probably not to be answered just yet, are why yet another major New York operator (Remember Aquavit?) failed to win over the Twin Cities marketplace. My expectations are the details, once known, will include a toxic cocktail of a bad economy, benign neglect on the part of JGV and partners, plus a food program and pricing less than perfectly suited to local tastes.
Stay tuned.
