FRESH IdeasBy Andrew Zimmern
Here is a great idea for a movie night adventure for everyone you know. Check out FRESH, which is showing at the Riverview Theater next Wednesday, June 3rd at 7 p.m. FRESH
features urban farmer/ activist Will Allen of Growing Power, the
recipient of a 2008 MacArthur Genius Grant, and sustainable farmer and
entrepreneur Joel Salatin of Omnivore's Dilemma fame. According to Tracy Singelton of Birchwood Cafe, “FRESH
offers real-life stories of real-life local foods heroes working hard
every day toward a shared vision of an American food system that is
environmentally sustainable, socially just, healthy, and tastes good
too!”

Beard BuzzBy Andrew Zimmern
Has all the local Beard Buzz made you hungry? Want to be a part of the
action at next year’s Beard awards? It’s the big twentieth-anniversary
edition, and it is at Avery Fisher Hall on Monday, May 3, 2010. Susan
Ungaro, JBS honcho, told me over lunch last week that it is not to be
missed. Since I have not been able to attend the last four years
because of shooting schedules for Travel Channel, I was eager to pencil
it in so that I won’t miss the big show. See you there.

Award-Winning Twin CitiesBy Andrew Zimmern
Congrats to Tim McKee for grabbing a very well-deserved James Beard
award for best chef in our region. Third time’s a charm. More on that
later . . . .
