Tip: Sparkling Up the Chandeliers

As I set the Thanksgiving table this year I was avoiding looking up. My crystal chandelier had become so dull and foggy and I was bummed I had no time to fix it. I figured extra candlelight would fix the situation and my lovely in-laws made no comments. Last weekend though I figured it was high time to get that baby sparkling again. Not just the dining room, but the bathroom too—the new master bath, which is ALMOST complete—where we hung a gorgeous, but very dusty, vintage chandelier I scored at Hunt & Gather for about $100.

Before: Lovely but dusty at Hunt & Gather

I put in a quick text to Mom who revived an original light fixture a few houses back and although she couldn’t remember the name, she said, “look for the blue & white bottle.” Sure enough, I spotted the secret spray bottle (Hagerty Chandelier Cleaner) at my hardware store. It looks like its been around for many a generation and promises a drip-dry sparkle.

Best of all, this is my kind of cleaning: near effortless. We put a few tarps underneath to catch the drips, sprayed like crazy and let the thing self clean. Magic! Bring on the next slew of holiday guests—they can swing from these sparkling chandeliers for all I care!

After: Amazing!

And the Dining Room, feel free to look up now!
