Decorating With Pumpkins

As I sit here on this crisp fall day, sipping a warm pumpkin latte, I thought I’d check in about holiday decorating. What I’d really love to know is how many readers out there decorate for each and every holiday? I’m not the kind of person who has a box in the basement for every holiday, swaps out the wreath, and covers the mantel with a seasonal theme. My mother, a pro, definitely wishes I was and what’s interesting now, is the little extra pressure that comes from my kids of all people. They want to do it up right, and in effort not to stifle their enthusiasm, we’re all about pumpkin pancakes in the morning and a little extra decor this year. We put out some hanging mums on the porch along with a couple of pumpkins. Inside, I found a white Cinderella pumpkin for the dining room table. To appease my four-year-old, we made it into a centerpiece by spray-painting a few baby pumpkins silver and gold. Turns out it’s been kind of fun and nothing I need to store away in a box for decades. Do you have a fall decorating DIY trick? We’d love to hear it. If not, check out a few of our Pinterest picks (such as the state-stenciled pumpkin above) we posted in yesterday’s Swatch.
