Wanderlust: Maine

For the last several years I’ve spent the 4th of July out east with my in-laws. My husband is from Maine and we’ve previously met the rest of the crew at his parents house or rented a vacation house on the Cape. This year we stayed in Kennebunkport, Maine, at The Colony Hotel, one of those throwback resort hotels with wide lawns, ocean views, wrap-around porches, and shuffleboard. While in town, we checked out a couple of newer properties, The Tides Beach Club and Hidden Pond, for a little design eye candy. Here’s a peek at what we saw.

The Colony Hotel

To the beach

Love the blue porch ceiling!

Colony Decor: lots of white, lacy curtains, and different wallpaper in every room.

Tides Beach Club

Rope accents at the Tides.

Beachy decor at the Tides, upstairs suites are designed by Jonathan Adler.

Lots of shades of blue.

The Tides beach bar, with great nautical lighting and accents.

Earth restaurant at Hidden Pond. Yes, that's an apple tree suspended from the ceiling.

Fun bulbs strung over the front reception.

The rustic pool bar at Hidden Pond.

Gorgeous container herb gardens!

Dining al fresco at Hidden Pond.
