After a post holiday lull….that persisted all month…the calendar is beginning to come alive with fashionable events that just might get me out of the layers of thermals that have been my wardrobe staples thus far in 2013.
Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week, Feb. 15-22: The calendar is set with a week of local shows and parties featuring Twin Cities designers. The events are open to the public, but geared toward the industry with a focus on fall/winter 2013 lines. See the newest to the scene during the Emerging Designer Showcase on Feb. 18 and then celebrate some of the Twin Cities most promising designers, including Max Lohrbach, kjurek, Christopher Straub, and Tim + Thom at The Shows, Feb. 21 and 22. Aria is the new location for MSPFW. More details here.
Macy’s Flower Show, March 24 to April 7: “The Painted Garden” is the theme of the annual flower show, which will celebrate Asia with elaborate architecture, lavish formal gardens, intese jewel tones, and lively spice market colors. All that, and a 10 foot tall painted elephant. The show at the downtown Minneapolis Macy’s store is free, and brings with it other soon-to-be-announced special events including fashion shows, cooking demos and celebrity appearances.
