Those bangs! That coat! First Lady Michelle Obama hit another homerun in a tailored Thom Browne coat for the Inauguration Day ceremonies. The entire First Family was color coordinated in shades of blue and purple. Daughter Malia wore a pink J. Crew coat (off the rack, J. Crew prez Jenna Lyons just told the New York Times) and Sasha was in periwinkle Kate Spade, both with color coordinated tights and flats.

We got our first glimpse of the family as they headed to church this morning. Before the official ceremony, Mrs. O added a J. Crew belt to her coat. Her shoes are also J. Crew.

Of course, this is the day Thom Browne becomes a household name. The New York Times’ Eric Wilson nabbed the first interview with Browne, a tailored menswear designer who launched his women’s collection just two years ago and had previously been worn by the First Lady. Browne learned Mrs. O was wearing his coat as the rest of us did. Both coat, and the dress beneath it, which the world waits with bated breath to glimpse, were custom made for the First Lady with fitted bodice and a slight flare below the waist, Browne told the NYTimes. The silk jacquard is based on necktie fabric.
