Macy’s is teaming up with Pinkberry to bring the tart frozen yogurt brand with a movie star-like mystique to Mall of America. Next month, Pinkberry will open its first Minnesota location within Macy’s MOA. The counter will serve six Pinkberry flavors, from original to Pomegranate, along with a featured flavor each season, 30 premium toppings, fruit parfaits, smoothies and fresh fruit bowls. Or take it to go: Pinkberry will also offer Pinkberry Take Home, 25 ounce, swirled-to-order containers packed on ice.
It’s a clever move for Macy’s that is sure to draw crowds to the MOA store, which, despite being an anchor at the nation’s largest mall, often feels like an afterthought for the department store chain. This seems a sign that Macy’s is ready to capitalize on MOA’s 40 million annual visitors. MOA is also one of 24 Macy’s stores around the country that will get a Toys ‘R’ Us express department this holiday season, featuring the hottest toys for gift giving. The shop is scheduled to open Oct. 15, and remain open through Jan. 15.
Meanwhile, watch for Pinkberry to start popping up at Twin Cities events with free samples, to build buzz for the Macy’s opening.
