I did not envy the cleaning crew at Arhaus Furniture yesterday, with its overwhelming number of shiny surfaces, hanging glass objects and gilded frames in need of a pre-open dusting. But every last detail was being tended to with a smile in anticipation of today’s opening at the Galleria in Edina—the first Arhaus store in Minnesota. Let’s just say Pottery Barn was wise to pick this month to debut its own remodel at the opposite end of the mall.
Display after display, Arhaus hits that sweet spot known as “transitional” decor—not too modern, not too traditional. Upholstered furniture is a priority, and you’ll find copper tables season after season, but Arhaus also plays to trend, like the 1920s revival—prompted by the upcoming release of Great Gatsby, mirrored tables and art deco furnishings are filtering in to the store. There really are pieces to suit a variety of tastes. Anything with a “reclaimed relics” tag is a one-of-a kind antique.
No matter your style, everything looks better in natural light. Arhaus blew out the roof to create a soaring skylight in the center of the store, a company signature.
Check it out early—the first 500 visitors on Friday, Oct. 5 will receive a candle in a reusable gift bag.
