Favorite New Mascara

My conversations with beauty writer Elizabeth Dehn can be a bit disjointed. I’m easily distracted by her lashes. They always look fabulous—as one would expect of the founder of popular blog Beauty Bets. She gets extensions (I think I can reveal that), she maintains, and the results are, well, extremely eye catching.

I want lashes like hers, and I know they are a credit card swipe away, but I also know that I am cheap and impatient and uncoordinated. Whatever false lashes everyone says are the absolute easiest, fool-proof ones to apply? I’d be the one with them stuck on my forehead.

And so it was with great enthusiasm that I read a glowing review of the new Origins GinZing Brightening Mascara ($17.50—just hitting stores this month), by my other favorite beauty writer, Lucky magazine’s Jean Godfrey June. “When I tell you that you will be 100 percent amazed and thrilled when you put this mascara on, I am understating its powers,” she wrote. I chose to believe her. Let me make clear that I do not believe many beauty product related promises. But I can say that this mascara really is all that. Like no other I’ve tried before. It has the fattest applicator brush I’ve ever come across and it goes on thick, long and as lovely as one can get…without lashes like Dehn’s.
