Yoga brand prAna plans to open its first Twin Cities store in November at 50th & France. Signs are up in the windows of the former Priscilla of Boston space. PrAna stores, in select markets like Santa Barbara, Calif. and Boulder, Colo., are designed to be community centers, offering yoga and meditation along with the full line of active apparel for women and men. Originally focused on climbing and yoga, prAna now designs for rock, studio, trail and street.
It’s a lot of spandex for 50th & France, which is already home to Athleta, Title Nine and Steele Fitness. But then, upscale shoppers tend to have the time and resources to devote to an active lifestyle. And this sort of retailer fits perfectly with the trend toward meaningful shopping experiences–stores that are about more than buying stuff.
Meanwhile, you can get active at 50th this Thursday, July 26. Ladies Night Out will include a mini boot camp at Steele Fitness and a yoga session by Moksha Yoga in the M&I Bank parking lot. Events take place from 4 to 8 p.m. See the full list of activities, including a fashion show, live music and sidewalk sales, here.
