We told you a couple of weeks ago that Allee Metro Chic is moving—again. This time, there will be no forgetting the address. When Allee moves one door over next month, the store name will change to 495 Fashion & Furniture, which is also its new address on Selby Avenue in St. Paul. While changing names is risky for an established boutique, owner June Berkowitz thinks this is her chance to truly break out of the Selby & Snelling alley the store left behind a year ago. Plus, the store is still enthusiastic about French labels, but the assortment has gotten broader.

In the new space, Berkowitz is teaming up with Shayne Barsness, designer of repurposed furniture for Style Minneapolis. “We wanted to pick a name that really united us. We’re in this together,” Berkowitz says. She and Barsness plan to work the store themselves every Friday evening in an effort to connect with customers and offer expert advice. I can tell you this: I saw samples of fall arrivals for the new store, and they look super chic–from a fur trimmed cotton candy pink coat to dressed up military inspired jackets, tweed skirts and silk patterned tops. The new 495 is scheduled to open Aug. 10.
