New European Kids Store for Galleria

Swedish children’s clothing retailer Polarn O. Pyret will open at the Galleria in Edina this fall. The name, pronounced POH-lahrn oh PEE-rhet, is Swedish for “Buddy and the Little Guy.” The brand has been around for 35 years, and is known for a practical, durable, don’t-let-them-grow-up-too-fast assortment of casual clothes for babies and children up to age 11, including swimwear, outerwear and unisex basics. Typical of Scandinavian design, PO.P features bright, bold colors and plenty of stripes. Apparel starts at around $25 for t-shirts and bodysuits

Galleria will be the company’s fourth location in the U.S., joining Greenwich, Conn., Tribeca and Upper West Side in Manhattan.

“Minnesota has been one of our best markets since we launched our U.S. online store in 2009,” said PO.P USA President Jennifer Athanason in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to open our first Midwest store at Galleria.”

For the Galleria, it adds another Twin Cities exclusive, and appeals to the growing demographic of young families.

The store will be located across from Melly and Pumpz & Company.
