Blowdry! wasn’t about to let a little rain ruin the blowouts on opening weekend in Uptown. The blowdry bar — first of four in the works to open this summer in Minneapolis — was prepared with umbrellas and free ponchos. It’s that attention to detail that impressed me on my first visit.

First of all, booking an appointment online was fast and easy. The bright blowdry bar  strikes just the right balance of girly and sleek. Chairs are set up along a shiny white bar, which creates a communal atmosphere perfect for parties. Clients can choose from a menu of blowouts–Boho, Bombshell, Bouffant–which guides the conversation as the stylist quickly assesses your hair type and style. The 60-minute, $35 service starts with a scalp and neck massage (worth the price, alone!). Next is shampoo and conditioning, followed by a very precise, attentive blowout that left my hair silky, smooth, and perfectly piece-y in the way I can never achieve on my own.
