If people will buy food off a truck, why not a dress? The Fashion Mobile hit the road for the first time last night, parking at Market Fest in White Bear Lake. Owners David and Teresa Grim had been missing the retail world since closing their bricks and mortar children’s store, Doozie, in Stillwater. For the price of one month’s rent on Main Street, they were able to buy an old Star Tribune newspaper truck on Craig’s List. They painted it blue-green, wallpapered the interior and even set up a dressing room. The Fashion Mobile is filled with a colorful array of sundresses, trendy bags from Glenda Gies and Big Buddha, fashion jewelry and bedazzled accessories for young girls–all priced from a few dollars to around $150. This first batch of merchandise does not warrant driving out of your way, but parked at a community festival or in the driveway at your next girl’s night, it’s a fun and convenient way to shop.
