Turns out, women do occasionally want to wear something other than yoga pants. Wayzata boutique Maha! started out as “studio to street,” offering upscale workout clothes–stylish enough to wear while running errands after the gym. But it’s tough to compete with Lululemon. That’s reality. The good news is, there are so many other great things to wear.
Maha! owner Krista Fragola says the more she and buyer Josi Wert Javinsky reached beyond active wear, the better the response from customers. At this point, active wear has been reduced to about 20 percent of the selling floor to make room for more fashion. Find premium denim, t-shirts with a retro, sporty-chic vibe, sweaters, casual dresses and tons of great accessories. Fragola gets what moms want to wear when they’re running from the gym to grocery store to carpool, and still meeting friends for drinks–she’s living it!
