The blow dry battle is heating up, with today’s sharp move by Juut. Effective immediately, the Juut New Artists Academy in Uptown now offers $15 blowouts. It’s a direct response to the four blowdry bars that are soon opening in the Twin Cities, charging $35 for a shampoo and style. Juut is also lowering the price of blowouts to $30 at its six other Twin Cities locations, beginning June 1.
Nothing like a little competition to benefit consumers!
It’s long been a gripe of unruly haired women like myself that many full service salons charge the same for a blowdry as they do for a haircut. Juut’s decision to lower its blowout prices (which previously were not promoted or even listed on the service menu) is an indication that the salon industry is ready to respond to blowdry bars.
“We are excited about the current trend of blowout services in Minnesota–weekly styles or a night on the town, we are seeing it all,” Juut founder David Wagner said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be introducing the best value blowout at our New Artists Academy in Uptown. The artists at our academy do beautiful work for an exceptional price.”
Stylists at the Uptown academy have graduated from cosmetology school where they complete a 30 week advance training program. In preparation for the uptick in blowdries, Juut brought in Creative Director Joel Gunderson, a fixture backstage at New York Fashion Week, to teach the Juut stylists how to create a great blowout. For $15, I’ll certainly give it a try.
