So little time, so much shopping. Here are just a few of the must-attend shopping events around town this weekend. And be sure to consult our events calendar every day for even more reasons to hit the stores.
Architect turned perfume maker Carlos Huber will appear at La Petite Parfumerie to promote his buzzed-about new fragrance line, Arquiste, with scents based on moments in history. The dashing Huber will be at the store from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Friday, May 4 (and be on the lookout for his former partner, designer Nate Berkus, who grew up in Minnetonka and is back in town this weekend for an appearance. 287 Water St., Excelsior, 952-475-2212
Lonnie Lovness doesn’t get enough credit for her expansive design work. Much of her jewelry sells under other labels, through catalogs and stores. But twice a year, she opens her Stillwater studio for a colossal sale featuring thousands of pieces marked 50 to 75 percent off. In addition to Lovness’ fashion jewelry, the sale includes vintage pieces and artisan made goods she’s picked up on recent trips to Guatemala and Morocco. Shoppers line up for this one. The Lonnie Lovness spring sample sale takes place Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 321 S. Main St., Stillwater, 651-430-2234
The Walker’s Local Jewelry Artist Mart is always one of my favorite events–it’s inspiring, and convenient to see and shop the collections of so many talent local designers at once. The event takes place Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plus, check out the Rectangle Designs trunk show also on Saturday, in the Walker Shop. 1750 Hennepin Ave. Mpls., 612-375-7600
Even more jewelry for mama. StyledLife presents the My Mother is a Rebel jewelry show, featuring Gina Riley of Rebel Designs and Anna Balkan jewelry. The first is edgy and urban; the latter, more feminine and colorful. Enjoy discounts and custom boxing. Through Sunday, May 6. Galleria, 952-928-8888
