Jewelry designer Stacey Johnson has made her Statement in the North Loop, and it’s inviting. The front display case is filled with Johnson’s simply stylish jewelry, but she’s filled the rest of her long, skinny storefront with women’s apparel, handbags, soaps, fragrances, home decor, and other gifts. The vibe is West Coast casual–think cropped cargos and flowy tops; contemporary vases filled with colorful flowers, and cheery, affordable objects.
The concept for the boutique rose from the ashes in South Minneapolis, where Johnson’s charming little showroom burned down in 2010 along with Patina and the neighboring restaurants.
“My vision for the store was to create a place that you can come to get something fabulous for
yourself, something fun for your friends, and something special for your loved ones. Statement feels that way to me,” Johnson says. “I am so excited to have this place be a reality after a long journey back from the fire.”
Johnson plans to donate a percentage of profits to a revolving trio of charitable groups. The first recipients are the Leukemia Foundation, the Humane Society and City Kid Java. Customers can choose where their dollars will be donated.
SWAG DEAL: Statement is offering an introductory 20 percent off in May. Just mention that you read about it here. 212 Third Ave. N., Mpls., 651-808-7663
