Crystal Kluge first discovered calligraphy when she was 10 or 11 years old, spending time at her grandmother’s home and playing with pens and books she found in her closet. Crystal now takes professional assignments with her namesake calligraphy business, and although she has a broad range of clientele, she says she has a soft spot for weddings.

“It’s fulfilling to be a part of such an important event in people’s lives, and betrothed couples are generally so happy and just fun to work with,” she says. Each custom necklace she creates exclusively for jewelry studio Brevity is unique and personal, designed especially for a specific individual. “No two are the same, regardless of name,” Crystal adds. “They feel so good to wear close to your heart. I created necklaces in my daughters’ names [Aya and Sophia], which I wear.”

After the pendants are hand lettered, they’re etched into stainless steel and hung on a 15″ sterling silver chain.

“What attracts me to hand lettering and calligraphy is the personal nature of it,” Crystal says. “It’s expressive, warm, imperfect…it’s human.” Perfect for showing your bridesmaids how much you love having them take part in your wedding day.
