Bridesmaids by Monique Lhuillier

Since launching her bridal collection in 1996, Monique Lhuillier has been a favorite of fashion-forward brides who crave both originality and elegance. And since her forays into evening and ready-to-wear, as well as a small yet concise and chic collection of un-matronly gowns for mothers-of-the-bride, many have been wondering when Lhuillier would start outfitting the other females in the bridal party. And if she did start doing bridesmaid dresses, how would she translate her aesthetic into a garb that is renowned for being un-chic?

Local brides just getting into the search for great couture are often surprised by all of the unbelievable options right at their doorstep. Forget New York. We’ve got enough high-style options to appeal to any bride.

A friend of mine who was married this past fall at The St. Paul Hotel found that out firsthand. She wore the most amazing, mermaid-style gown with a scoop neck top and tiny buttons all the way down her back. The dress, by Peter Langner, was from L'atelier Couture, which made me fall in love with it even more. Amanda Kautt, owner of L'atelier Couture, has one of the most impeccable eyes for bridal that I have come across—anywhere.
